Founded in 1961, Amnesty International is a Nobel Prize winning grassroots activist organization with over one-million members world wide.

Takoma Park's local AI group has been active since 1982. At present we are working on the regional special focus case (2 prisoners of conscience in Indonesia), advocating for a fair trial for a prisoner in China, working to repeal Maryland's death penalty, and sponsoring the Human Rights Painting Project.
